Phoenix Youth Programs and the Federation of Community Organizations began a partnership in 2008 to gather information on the labour force of Nova Scotia's nonprofit sector. In October 2010, at a provincial conference of sector and government representatives, the results of this groundbreaking study of Nova Scotia's nonprofit labour force were released and discussed for future directions of the sector. From this provincial gathering, key themes emerged as guiding directions, and this study examines the top three:
-
Sector Leadership & Representation;
-
Resource Management & Sharing Services (as one HR strategy);
-
Core Competency Training & Deployment
This online survey is one component of the current research project. Other methodologies include a comprehensive literature review, panCanadian interviews to examine learnings from other provinces, 9 provincial focus groups, and key informant interviews.
